Set up signing from Salesforce šŸ†•ļƒ

Note

Our Scale and Enterprise customers can sign documents directly from Salesforce, be it Opportunities, Quotes, CPQ Quotes, Campaigns, Contacts, Cases, or Accounts. Your company doesnā€™t sign with Skribble yet? Contact us.

To get the plug-in for Salesforce and set up signing, you need the following:
  • fill in the online form

  • Salesforce Admin access

  • Skribble API credentials

We recommend that Salesforce admins do the setup, as Skribble admins might not have the necessary rights to finish all steps.

Step 1: Getting the plug-in

  • Accept the terms and conditions and fill in the form

  • Our team will get back to you by e-mail with the next steps

Step 2: Installing the plug-in

Weā€™ll send you a link to install the plug-in and finish the setup. Hereā€™s how it works:

  • Follow the link we sent you by e-mail

  • Log in to your Salesforce account

  • Decide who you want to install the plug-in for ā€“ admins only, all employees or specific people

  • Wait a few minutes for the plug-in to install; youā€™ll get a confirmation e-mail once done

Note

If you see the message This app is taking a long time to install, click Done to get back to the overview of the installed package in Salesforce. Then follow the instructions.

Step 3: Connecting Salesforce with Skribble

Next, you need to connect Salesforce with Skribble. Hereā€™s where you need the Skribble API credentials you got from us by e-mail.

  • To allow Skribble to interact with Salesforce, click Allow

  • Enter Skribble API credentials and click Next

  • Salesforce and Skribble are now connected

Step 4: Configuring plug-in and signing

  • Update Salesforce security settings ā€“ to show the latest status of a signature

  • Add the Sign with Skribble button to the record types ā€“ so you can sign

Step 5: Updating Salesforce security settings

  • Go to Setup and search for Remote site settings

  • Select New remote site and give it a name, such as Skribble

  • Then enter the Remote site URL https://cloudy.skribble.com and click Save

  • Now search for App manager, then go to Skribble Electronic Signature

  • Click the arrow on the right, then Manage

  • Navigate to Edit policies

  • Change Permitted users to Admin approved users are pre-authorised and click Save

  • Then scroll down to Profiles and click Manage profiles

  • Select at least one profile that users have so they can use the plug-in and click Save

Note

Repeat the steps below for each record type that should support signing with Skribble, such as Opportunity or Quote. Your record type isnā€™t supported? Reach out to your contact person at Skribble, and weā€™ll see if we can add it.

Step 6: Creating a lookup relationship

Next, itā€™s time to create a lookup relationship between record types and Skribble Electronic Signature. Hereā€™s how it works:

  • Search for Object manager

  • Then either scroll down or directly search for Skribble Electronic Signature

  • Go to Fields & relationships, then click New

  • Click Lookup relationship, then Next

  • Set the Related to to a record type that Skribble supports and click Next

  • Click Next again or add a description, but do not change the field name or it might break the API

  • Select the Profiles to which you want to give edit access to this field via field-level security and click Next

  • Now either add or remove the relationship field of the Skribble Electronic Signature layout and click Next

  • To display the signature invitations in the related list, keep the checkbox Add related list ticked and click Save

Step 7: Adding the Sign with Skribble button

Now, you need to add the button Sign with Skribble to the page layout of the record type. Hereā€™s how it works:

  • Search for Object manager

  • Click on your Record type, then go to Buttons, links, and actions

  • Click on New button or link and name the label Sign with Skribble

  • Change the Display type to Detail page button

  • Paste the following URL into the text field https://cloudy.skribble.com/salesforce/upload?record_id={!RECORD_TYPE.Id}&user_id={!$User.Id}&instance_url={!LEFT($Api.Partner_Server_URL_260, FIND( ā€˜/servicesā€™, $Api.Partner_Server_URL_260))}

  • In the URL, replace the RECORD_TYPE placeholder with your record type, such as !Opportunity.Id, !Quote.Id, and click Save

Step 8: Making the button visible

Now you need to make the button visible in the record type. Hereā€™s how it works:

  • Stay in Object manager and go to Page layouts

  • Then click on the layout, such as Quote layout or Opportunity layout

  • Go to Mobile & lighting action and then drag and drop the button Sign with Skribble into the section Salesforce mobile and lighting experience actions

  • Good to know: If you canā€™t drag and drop the button, click the **tool symbol on the right to customise this section. Put Sign with Skribble as the first button for the best visibility.

  • Then scroll down to the Related lists.

  • If you created a lookup relationship and ticked the checkbox, you should now see Skribble Electronic Signatures here.

  • Drag and drop it to the Notes & attachments

  • Then click the tool symbol and select Status in the available fields, then click Add

  • Click + next to Buttons and untick both standard buttons, then click OK

  • Click Save in the upper left and then click Yes to overwrite the default settings

  • Thatā€™s it! Youā€™ve added the Skribble Electronic Signature and the Sign with Skribble button to a record type in Salesforce. Repeat the steps described above for each record type that should support signing with Skribble.

Now employees in your company can sign with Skribble. Try it out before letting them know they can sign from Salesforce. Hereā€™s a quick guide if they need a hand with signing.
